Request an AppointmentWhat is a physical exam?
A physical exam is a comprehensive health screening that assesses your physical and mental wellness and allows Dr. Arne to make changes to your health plan. As a concierge medicine specialist, Dr. Arne offers membership-based care that enables him to spend one-on-one time with his patients.
Your thorough physical exam includes a 90-minute visit with a complete consultation and head-to-toe assessment. Dr. Arne uses the information he collects during these annual visits to create your wellness plan for the year ahead. Each year, he refers back to your results to identify changes to your health and adjust your personalized care plan.
What does a physical exam include?
When you arrive for a physical exam, Dr. Arne and his staff check your height and weight before recording your vitals (blood pressure, temperature, and respiration rate). Next, the staff takes you to a comfortable exam room for your extended visit with Dr. Arne.
Most physical exams include two parts:
Medical history review
During the medical history review, Dr. Arne updates any changes to your health records, including new medications. He then asks about any symptoms you’re experiencing. Finally, he asks questions about your diet, lifestyle, stress level, and other factors that can influence your health.
Physical
The physical portion of the exam is a complete screening. First, Dr. Arne checks the inside of your eyes, ears, nose, and throat before listening to your lungs and heart. He manually palpates your abdomen to ensure the correct organ size and placement. He also tests your reflexes.
What are the benefits of a physical exam?
A vital component of preventive care, a physical exam helps you maintain your health and your age, which can:
- Reduce your risk of chronic disease
- Minimize surprise medical costs
- Prevent health-related stress
- Promote healthier lifestyle choices
- Improve your diet
Routine physical exams support optimal physical health and mental well-being to improve your mood, weight, energy, mental clarity, and more.
How often should I schedule a physical exam?
Most adults should visit Gulfshore Personalized Care for a comprehensive physical exam once a year, but Dr. Arne may recommend visiting more or less frequently, depending on your medical history.
